Women artists award scholarships

Scholarships were recently awarded by the Florida Women’s Arts Association at Art Spotlight during the exhibit “It’s The Little Things.”

Christine Colby of Seabreeze High School in Daytona Beach received a $500 Delphi gift card to purchase glass supplies for a new course she is teaching. Scholarship given

Ashley Foster of Chiles Academy of Daytona Beach was awarded a 500 gift card to Blick Art.

Lena Williams of Daytona State College received a $500 check presented to the Studio Art Rats Club of DSC to go on a field trip.

Art League of Daytona Beach

New classes to begin in January at the Art League of Daytona Beach include

photography with Rafael Torres, mixed media with Gail Bokor and painting portraits in oil with Darla Donley.

Ormond Memorial Art Museum is hosting Glitter, Glow, Shine & Sparkle, a dazzling community exhibit, on display until Dec. 31 at 78 E. Granada Blvd., Ormond Beach.

Museum of Arts & Sciences

The Museum of Arts & Sciences offers events and exhibits at 352 S. Nova Road, Daytona Beach.

Magical: The Art of Susan Zukowsky exhibit will be on display until Jan. 22. Ms. Zukowsky’s art is based on dreamlike theatrical tableaus.

Pacific Exotics: The Woodblock Prints of Paul Jacoulet will be on display until Jan. 15. Mr. Jacoulet designed a set of woodblock prints that are beautifully composed, visually exciting and masterfully produced.

A Beautiful Mess: Weavers & Knotters of the Vanguard will be on display until Feb. 5 in the Ford Gallery. The diverse exhibit features an all-female roster of talented artists and includes about 18 artworks and installations.

Minor Masterpieces: Porcelain Painted Scenes from the Collection is on display through March 19. The exhibit highlights miniature scenes, some of which were painted by highly-regarded painters.

“Key West: Southernmost USA” exhibit is on display. Explore the southernmost point of the continental United States.

The museum is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Photography exhibit

Florida Women’s Arts Association will have “It’s The Little Things” exhibit on display until Dec. 31, at Art Spotlight at 67 W. Granada Blvd., Ormond Beach.

Atlantic Center for the Arts

Atlantic Center for the Arts offers a variety of programs at its main campus, downtown and other locations in New Smyrna Beach.

The Jack Mitchell Portrait Gallery showcases 180 Artist photographs spanning 22 years from ACA’s inaugural residency in 1982 to the end of 2004. The 16- by 14-inch black and white portraits are a part of ACA’s permanent collection.

Artists sought for Ocean Center exhibit

The Volusia County ECHO Gallery Committee is seeking proposals for a new exhibit at the Ocean Center.

Artists can submit their two-dimensional, Volusia County history-themed pieces by 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10.

Submissions should be sent to [email protected] and include .jpg files of artwork as well as a narrative describing the basic theme and subject matter of each submission. Works submitted for consideration should depict historical themes from within Volusia and be appropriate for public viewing.

Gateway Center for the Arts

Gateway Center for the Arts hosts pottery classes for adults from noon to 2 p.m. each Wednesday at 880 N. U.S. 17/92, DeBary.

Classes are for beginner and intermediate students. Each session is $50. Masks are required and class sizes are limited.

Open Studio is at 10 a.m. each Tuesday.

African American Museum Of the Art

African American Museum of Art will host an exhibit by Joy Hayes at 325 S. Clara Ave., DeLand.

Ms. Hayes is a multidimensional artist who has worked with a variety of media and techniques, but she is most recognized for her large-scale pastel illustrations of famous individuals.
