    Legislative committee gives state finance authority the greenlight for cannabis business loans

    An interim legislative committee on Tuesday approved a state-run loan program for small cannabis businesses. The decision was approved by the New Mexico Finance Authority Oversight committee with a 9-2 vote.  The program will be overseen by the state’s finance authority and will be funded by the Economic Development Revolving Fund. According to a presentation from the authority’s CEO Marquita Russell, there will be about $5 million from the revolving fund made available for qualifying businesses. Each loan, Russell told lawmakers on Tuesday, would be limited to $250,000 and terms would be limited to five years. Applicants to the loan

    State Theatre, Island Fitness join businesses requiring vaccinations for entry

    ITHACA, N.Y.—Island Health & Fitness became the latest local business to introduce a COVID-19 vaccination requirement, and the first local gym to do so, as the idea of vaccination requirements begins to extend beyond bars (and one local bookstore, Odyssey).     WVSOM’s Fit Kids program promotes nutrition, health and fitness | State & Region

    The West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine’s (WVSOM) Center for Rural and Community Health (CRCH) is working with a group of WVSOM students to host a series of Fit Kids events aimed at promoting nutrition and fitness among area children ages 6 to 11. The Fit Kids program began with a pilot event in May and continued with a welcome event on Aug. 22. Each session includes games and opportunities for education centered on a particular theme. Masks are required, social distancing is observed and parents must remain with children during the events. WVSOM students and CRCH staff will oversee
