    Home Depot signals strong start to holiday season home improvement spending

REUTERS/Mike Blake Nov 16 (Reuters) – Home Depot Inc (HD.N) beat quarterly sales estimates by nearly $2 billion on Tuesday and signaled a strong start to the holiday season as Americans spend more on tools and materials to complete large home improvement projects. Shares of the largest U.S. home improvement chain rose 4%, hitting a record high. Professional contractors such as builders and handymen have been rushing back to Home Depot’s stores as they look to upgrade their toolkits and source building materials to complete a backlog
