    Bears travel to face improved Long County Friday | Sports

    The atmosphere surrounding the football program at Long County is perhaps at an all-time high. Don’t expect to see the same ole’ Blue Tide (4-4 overall, 1-1 Region 1-AAA) Friday night when fifth-ranked Pierce County (5-2, 1-0) takes the field at Jaycee Stadium in Ludowici. Long County has all but clinched its first-ever state playoff berth in its 24-year history after recording a 28-19 victory last week at Brantley County. The Blue Tide still have Tattnall County remaining on their schedule while Brantley County gets Tattnall County and Appling County in its final two region games. The fourth win of

    Alabama adds 4,000-plus COVID cases, 635 in 1 county

    The number of new coronavirus cases in Alabama topped 4,000 today. The figures from the Alabama Department of Public Health show the state has recorded 623,919 cases of COVID-19 since March 2020, adding 4,167 since yesterday. Another 35 deaths were added bringing the total to 7,890. One county – Mobile – saw the greatest increase with 635 new cases. Other counties with three-digit increases were: Baldwin (338), Etowah (109), Houston (132), Jefferson (470), Lee (112), Madison (209), Marshall (121), Montgomery (140), Shelby (169) and Tuscaloosa (100). Hospitalizations are now at 2,371, compared to 277 a month ago. Here are the

    Warren County family praying for workers after explosion during home improvement project

    Fire officials said it’s a miracle a Warren County family was able to escape their home unscathed after an explosion.Investigators said workers were installing a new heating system when vapors caused the big boom, hurting three of them.The homeowner said he is grateful his family is OK while they also pray for the workers.He said his house shook and he rushed to get everyone to safety.It was a frightening surprise, for his family, the workers and first responders.”Shook the whole house.     Friedman’s Home Improvement of Sonoma County names new CFO

    Jeff Schryver has been named chief financial officer for the Petaluma-based home improvement, lumber and building materials firm Friedman’s Home Improvement. According to the announcement, Schryver has more than15 years of experience in the retail sector. His last position was as CFO for Lolli and Pops, starting that job in 2020. Prior to that, according to Friedman’s, he worked at the cosmetics firm Sephora for 14 years, leaving the company as its vice president of finance and analytics. “Jeff’s rich background in multiple facets of the retail industry, leadership skill set and true understanding of Friedman’s people-first culture are invaluable
