    Bears travel to face improved Long County Friday | Sports

    The atmosphere surrounding the football program at Long County is perhaps at an all-time high. Don’t expect to see the same ole’ Blue Tide (4-4 overall, 1-1 Region 1-AAA) Friday night when fifth-ranked Pierce County (5-2, 1-0) takes the field at Jaycee Stadium in Ludowici. Long County has all but clinched its first-ever state playoff berth in its 24-year history after recording a 28-19 victory last week at Brantley County. The Blue Tide still have Tattnall County remaining on their schedule while Brantley County gets Tattnall County and Appling County in its final two region games. The fourth win of

    BEARS TRAVEL TO BIRMINGHAM FOR TOURNAMENT

    Story Links CONWAY, Ark. – The Bears started the season 2-0 with wins over UTRGV and Belmont. Central Arkansas travels to Birmingham, Alabama, for two matches in a tournament against UAB and Elon. TEAM NEWS Multiple Bears are still out after missing the openers against UTRGV and Belmont. Katsuyoshi Kimishima and Sebastian Andreassen are both still out and are looking to make a quick return to the side.     Bears travel to Claxton Friday night to face Tigers | Sports

    Pierce County’s season-opening four-game road trip continues in Claxton Friday night. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s third-ranked Bears (1-1) are coming off a 25-0 beating of Class 5A Wayne County in Jesup. Claxton’s lone game was a 27-6 setback in the “Pecan Grove” at the hands of PCHS regionmate Tattnall County two weeks ago. Pierce County has won the last four meetings against Claxton to take a 6-3 series advantage. PCHS has outscored the Tigers 177-65 (19.7 to 7.2) in the all-time series. During the 1982 and 1983 seasons, PCHS and the Tigers split four games. The Bears swept Claxton 11-6 and
