CONWAY, Ark. – The Bears started the season 2-0 with wins over UTRGV and Belmont. Central Arkansas travels to Birmingham, Alabama, for two matches in a tournament against UAB and Elon.

TEAM NEWS

Multiple Bears are still out after missing the openers against UTRGV and Belmont. Katsuyoshi Kimishima and Sebastian Andreassen are both still out and are looking to make a quick return to the side.

FORM GUIDE

Central Arkansas comes off the back of two strong wins over UTRGV and Belmont. The Bears have scored five goals in the two matches and allowed three.

Elon comes into the tournament boasting a 2-0 record, including a win over ASUN opponent Liberty 1-0. UAB enters the tournament at 1-1 after losing to Rutgers and claiming a 2-1 win over Ohio State.

HEAD TO HEAD

This will be the first matchup for the Bears against Elon.

The Bears will face UAB for the third time ever on Sunday. UCA has yet to beat the Blazers losing last year 3-2.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Vicent Abaso was recently named ASUN Player of the Week after scoring two goals in two matches for the Bears. Abaso will look to continue his goal-scoring form. Alberto Suarez looks to captain the defense to another clean sheet. Karim Diao has played a big part in build-up play, but will now look to get his first goal in the Purple and Gray.

HEAR FROM THE COACH

“We are excited about going on the road together to become a better team and a better program. We are just trying to move another stone in the mountain that is being the best team we can be,” said Head Coach Frank Kohlenstein ahead of the away trip.

Central Arkansas plays Elon on Friday, Sep. 3, with kickoff at 4 p.m.

The Bears then play the tournament hosts of UAB on Sunday, Sep. 5, with kickoff at 5 p.m.
